What a Resilient Nervous System Looks Like
A brief example of the journey to a healthy Vagus Nerve
The rewards that come from using money as a healing portal are profound, and sometimes, you don't know how far you've come in your sovereignty until a past pattern repeats itself.
Late in the afternoon, the day before Thanksgiving, a person dropped a bomb into my world. I don't have enough digits to count how many times that's happened - no lead-up, no warning, just a loud BOOM that invariably targets my life's literal structures and foundations.
In the past, this would completely derail and devastate me for days, weeks, even months.
I had some moments of sheer terror followed by despair but within the hour, returned to center. I don't know yet how things will turn out but I do know this...I lost an hour burning on the pyre of her making...not days or weeks...one hour.
After the technicalities of this situation are sorted, there will be nothing left.
No wounds to stab, no place for hooks to grab, no room for bombs to land. Nothing but empty reclaimed space that I get to fill with the peace of permanent closure.
This is what happens after you spend time deeply exploring your vagus nerve and your nervous system's conditioned responses.
When I was an addiction and trauma therapist, I talked constantly to my groups about the nanosecond gap between the trigger and the choice and then the action to use.
I was a broken record because when you make the most of that nanosecond to feel what's happening in your body and try to make a different choice and use your tools - even if you do relapse, it won't be as bad.
Then you get another chance to grab the brass ring in the gap of that nanosecond.
The beautiful thing about patterns is they are so damn predictable so you have the opportunity to analyze and plan and try again to stretch that nanosecond to a microsecond to a second, a minute, an hour...a day at a time.
Then a day comes when the trigger happens, and you get to watch the cycle unfold in slow motion as if you have two sets of eyes observing the event and two voices in your head - one reacting and one responding.
One side starts to react, but it feels far away from the other. The story that makes manifest your Familiar Bad Feeling Place begins to want to be told. You may hear the words and even speak a few lines.
You may feel a physical urge to launch the story or reach for your favorite emotion-smashing tool (sugar, TV, social media, alcohol, etc.)or really want to call someone to bitch and moan about the whole thing.
All the while the other part of you holds space. You are the Witness, not taking any action as you clearly see the pattern. You watch in wonder as it unfurls attempting to shape itself into the bleeding black rose you know best.
Everything stills, and you choose to stay centered. You see the half-formed black rose fade to dust and disappear.
The incident is over. You made your choice and now can make more choices for how to further restore yourself to peace.
This happens because before the gap even fully opened your lungs had started breathing toward peace. You've practiced for these moments with such diligence that your Body kicked in with the adaptive response, your preferred response, before your Mind even got to first gear.
That breath, that split view of reality unfolding, helps you consciously shift the words [you don't stop the old story - you change the words], and before you know it, you're aware of the old but standing firmly in the new.
The train has switched tracks, your life will never be the same, and please take a moment to celebrate the results of your training efforts.
Your Familiar Bad Feeling Place soon becomes a distant memory. It’s like a foreign land you once loved but don't plan to travel to ever again no matter how cheap the ticket becomes!
There is much more nuance to this and many other stages along the way, but this happens to most participants who come into Train Your Body to Wealth and determinedly stick with the method.
