4 FEET, RACECARS, AND THE RAZOR’S EDGE
our ways are back roads,
skinny wandering game trails,
not fast multi-lane highways.
we are more bare feet on dirt and,
less Ferrari on asphalt.
we can be both though,
remember?
we've talked about this a time,
or three.
being sovereign and practiced enough,
standing on the razor’s edge isn’t foreign.
we forget,
it’s a lot more peaceful there,
standing on the middle way.
the calls of this internet jungle are loud,
i get it,
i hear them.
the thundering voices,
flashing light distractions.
the constant call to conflict and chaos.
the mirrored images come fast and furious around here.
it's the human channel,
all reflections,
all the time.
commercial free.
oh, what interesting faces you wear today, Jesus.
i see you what you did there, buddy.
i see you: anger, hate, and bitter envy.
i see you: racism, misogyny, and cruel comparison.
i see you: MAGA hats, snarling jaws, and phone soldier tactics.
i see you: blazing love, expansive joy, and tender empath hearts.
i see you: chonky cats and fluffly pups, pajama goats and babbling babies.
i see you: choice, messengers, and sovereign storytellers.
i.
see.
you.
may our bare feet remember asphalt is just ground river rocks,
and Ferraris can be hummingbirds.
where there is one,
there is all that is.
both/and,
we/us.
may we see you.
Questions to consider:
1. How comfortable are you with the good-bad duality of our world?
2. Have you found ways to love the unlovable? What about politicians, school shooters, and other people who demonstrate what we consider the worst qualities of humanity?
