1. The Things in The Roots
Will you dig the garden of the dark things?
The vegetables deep underground?
They might not be pretty.
They might have worms attached,
Or dangling grubs.
They might be slimed and stinky.
Will you fertilize and tend,
This Shadow garden sprung from cast-off seeds?
Damaging weeds grow there,
Will you pull them?
Shadow gardens bear fruit of another kind.
Misshapen wisdom roots and vines,
Of vulnerability, twisting.
Buried in the night time beets,
There might be diamonds,
Muddy with memory and,
Misunderstandings.
How will you know if you never go?
Full moon, dark moon, moon in-between,
This is the stalker in your dreams.
Secrets stay buried for only so long,
By the way, you’re strong enough.
The garden of the dark things is waiting,
Such gifts to be harvested,
With sharp tools of love.
Roots snaking from here to there,
Unseen, unheard but you can,
Feel them. So can,
Everyone else.
Your aura is your advertising.
Will you dig the garden of the dark things?
