Imagine a fish trying to protect itself from water. Swimming all over trying to avoid the "dark" water or trying to cleanse itself when it does pass through water that’s a different quality.
Impossible, and yet that's exactly what I was first taught when I started studying metaphysics 41 years ago. However, I quickly learned from different teachers that concepts like that are imaginary, and complicated protection rituals expand energy that’s better spent elsewhere.
I hear it being perpetuated on a daily basis. Cleanse your energy this way. Protect yourself from energies that way. Don’t go to public events because your energy will get all dirty and gross. Carry a five-pound black tourmaline in your bag when traveling.
The truth is you're receiving and in contact with all the energies all the time, and you need protection about as much as a fish needs a wetsuit.
Blocking our awareness of these deep processes so we stay helpless was engineered by people in power. Those who didn't, and still don't, have any interest in everyone feeling sovereign in their psychic abilities and their inherent understanding of energy fields and how to work with them.
So. What to do?
Wake up, wake up, wake up. Develop a daily practice of tuning into your system to know your baseline.
How does your system feel at rest?
When the kids come home?
In the morning?
At a live event?
After you get off the phone with that one relative?
When you’re out in nature?
The key to all of this is learning how different energy signatures feel in your body, how your nervous system reacts, and what images or sensations arise with them. And you can build that sensate vocabulary without practicing daily!
Over time, you’ll notice patterns - I see a clock when my client has some issue related to time. I feel a flutter in my stomach when someone near me is nervous. I feel a wave of nausea if a client or someone near me is feeling shame. My throat tightens when someone is holding back their words.
You’ll also develop a collection of energetic signature images/sensations for people. I see red sandstone every time I talk to T. I feel like I’m floating on water when I talk to D. I see a sparking electrical wire whenever I am around A. The Tasmanian Devil cartoon is whirling around me when I take my twin granddaughters to a movie.
Taking the time to build a dictionary or a library of images, sensations, and feelings makes you sovereign in your environment. When you encounter “dark” energy or water you don’t prefer, you pull it through you, move elsewhere, or flow with it, knowing it’s harmless, and YOU choose your RESPONSE.
No one, least of all me, is saying to swim around in an oil slick and love it or hang out with the person who makes your stomach feel urpy.
A healthy system moves away from toxicity.
The problem comes when you yell at or give power to what’s toxic. When you believe all the stories that say the dead can harm you, or people can curse you, or invisible bits can possess you, you’re living life in a disempowered state.
Wouldn’t you rather recognize the energy of something that isn’t your baseline and simply swim away emotionlessly, tossing a blessing at whatever yuck you just encountered, or choose to enter into the debate from a centered, intuitive place?
AND
- wouldn't you like to know that money, and love, and the things you want also have energy signatures that you’re unconsciously rejecting because you don’t have the language to recognize what they are?
Did you know the fast-rushing energy of wealth can easily be misinterpreted as dangerous by a system with no reference points for different energy sensations?
So, can you see the deeper layers here? The sneak attack these practices bring, lol?
The advanced practice of learning this kind of language requires us to step into more power as we stop using the language of labeling. Instead of spending any of your vital life force categorizing energies as toxic, dark, low vibe, high vibe, 5D, 3D, light, heavy, blah, blah, woof, meow they become preferred and unpreferred.
They have a temperature, a quality, a signature that is descriptive and sensate but in no way hierarchical.
For example, I prefer to stand in the Metro where the screaming homeless person is not. If space prevents me from moving, I reverse engines and breathe her in. I see my energy as wide and porous, so she flows through like the hot exhaust of a diesel truck. I don’t perceive her as preferred. I also don’t push against her in any way.
I have been blessed with good teachers and have taken the time to practice being aware so I can make choices, create my own experiences, and respond vs. react. I have committed to being conscious as much as possible, remembering I am the power of the Universe, and exercising control over my interior landscapes.
Remaining unconscious is far more painful and exhausting than the work it takes to wake up.
Remaining unconscious requires enormous effort because to do so means you have to repress all the parts of you screaming the truth from the dark closets where they’ve been shoved, from behind the gags placed upon them, from the depths of the dungeons they were banished to long ago.
Can you imagine the relief you’ll feel when you can tell yourself and, even better, live the truth?
When you understand all energies as a myriad of currents in the ocean, different qualities of air, varying textures of earth, assorted colors of flames, and you are at the center of it all - an embodied awareness called Aether, you’ve done it.
You’ve set yourself free…

LMW
P.S. No one likes a bra full of crystals more than me or a ritual at the crossroads, but remember those things are the fun stuff of life - the feel-good things we do to trigger a sense of intimacy to all the things - remember nothing out there is Source — only you are.
